How to Find Your Face Shape Without a Photo
Use a mirror and a few simple observations to explore your face shape without uploading an image.
Use a mirror in even light
Stand in front of a mirror with your head upright. Pull hair away from the sides of the face if you want to make the outline easier to see.
Trace the general outline
Without worrying about exact measurements, notice where your face appears widest and whether the overall outline is longer than it is wide.
Compare the forehead, cheeks and jaw
Ask which of the three areas looks widest. Then notice whether the jaw is angular and broad or gradually narrows toward the chin.
Narrow down the categories
A longer balanced outline may point toward oval or oblong. A softer, more equal outline may point toward round. A stronger jaw may point toward square. A wider upper face can suggest heart, while cheekbone-dominant width can suggest diamond.
Check from more than one angle
Turn your head slightly or look at another neutral mirror view. If the category changes dramatically, do not force a label. The six categories are only a convenient framework.
Use a photo as a second check
If you want a more structured estimate, a straight-on photo gives a consistent reference for comparing proportions. You can then use the MyFaceShaper analyzer and read the corresponding guide.
A quick mirror checklist
Before deciding on a category, answer four questions: Is the face clearly longer than wide? Where is it widest? Is the jaw broad or tapered? Does the outline look angular or soft? Your answers usually narrow the possibilities to two categories, which is enough to start reading the relevant guides.
